It happens to the best of us. The leaves are turning from green to gold, but your stash should not be turning too. Let us fix that before Smelly September hits, with stash packs and storage containers that actually keep things fresh.
Grab your favorite sweater and get cozy. This guide is for beginners and seasoned users alike because no matter where you land on that scale, you don't deserve a stinky stash ruining your date with the green man.
We are starting with a super beginner friendly option, the PAX Stash Tube.
If you like to smoke but do not worship the ground your favorite sativa was grown on, the PAX Stash Tube is a reliable pick. It is the perfect accessory for anyone who is not fully committed to the flower lifestyle. The tube holds 1.5 grams and features an aluminum body with a silicone tamp for on the go sessions. It's sturdy and airtight, so those pesky smells are a thing of the past. The EZ load construction gives the tube an angled lip for better pouring and loading no matter your setup. With the built in tamp, this stash tube is meant to be used alongside a dry herb vaporizer like the PAX Plus or PAX Mini.
Its slim design slides into a pocket or backpack with ease, measuring 96.5 millimeters by 22.86 millimeters by 12.7 millimeters. It's a great way to keep your stash on you without disturbing the peace, and it also makes a solid home for loose flower that would otherwise dry out sitting in a dispensary bag.
That said, if you like to carry a larger stash then this probably won't be your vibe. That's where bag options come into play, like the Death Row Smell Proof Shoulder Bag and the Ooze Traveler Series Smell Proof Backpack.
Overall: 6/10. It has all the elements of a reliable smell proof container, but its compact size makes it hard for avid smokers to really make use of the space.
Smell Score: 9/10. You can't smell the product inside, and it holds up well with continued use.
The Death Row Smell Proof Shoulder Bag is built for function with a multi pocket design and a carbon lined interior to keep odors out. The water resistant material on the innermost part of the bag is great, especially if you keep liquids on you for smoke sessions. As long as your flower stays sealed up in a mason jar, this bag can be great for transporting water bottles, your smoking gear, and even a mini bong.
One of the key features about this shoulder bag is that it doesn't have to solely be your stash bag, it's versatile enough to double as a gym bag, grocery bag, or carrier for anything with strong aromatics. Dimensions wise, this bag stacks up at 12 inches by 10 inches by 4.5 inches, a pretty sizable jump from the Pax Stash Tube. There's much more legroom for all your goodies, and you don't have to be locked into a single-purpose bag that just sits in the closet between smoke sessions.
Overall: 7/10. There's no specialty or advanced technology built into the design, and there's nowhere to stash loose leaf without another jar to accompany it.
Smell Score: 7/10. It keeps most of the smell in check, but doesn't fully mask it.
The Ooze Traveler Series Smell Proof Backpack is similar to the Death Row bag, but adds a 3-digit lock system and a laptop sleeve. It's built for everyday life, with enough room for your daily essentials and your smoke setup in the same trip.
It also comes with odor-resistant technology, so all those earthy dry herb smells stay parked inside. With multiple compartments for your stash, there's nothing stopping you from exploring without stressing over what to leave behind. That's one of the most difficult parts of traveling for me: worrying about how my stash smells and lugging around all my equipment separately. This backpack keeps everything centralized, which is genuinely helpful. Pair it with a smaller stash pack like the Pax Stash Tube or the Dogg LBS Snap Pack, and you get double the odor protection plus enough space to bring your whole setup along.
This one is made to last and protect your dry herb from the elements. My only wish is a metal compartment for loose leaf, but overall it holds its own, and I love that there's a lock for everyday use.
Backpacks are great if you're bringing your whole setup along, but not everyone wants to carry that much. If you're more of a cannabis connoisseur on the down low, we've got some mini stash pack options for you too.
Overall: 9/10. The backpack delivers consistent performance while staying genuinely discreet. The only giveaway that it might be a stash pack is the Ooze logo on the front.
Smell Score: 7/10. The bag masks most odors well, though getting close to the interior lining reveals a faint whiff of whatever's inside.
Dainty and compact, the Dogg LBS Snap Pack Stash Pack is a fan favorite for blunts and pre rolls that need a miniature home during transport. It's a fairly small piece with a 3-part storage system, sized perfectly for pre-rolled pieces that need somewhere to live.
Available in a bright purple color, it's not the most discreet on looks alone, but the functionality makes up for it. The elastic connection and silicone seal are what really elevate this piece above some of the other makers in the space. It's thin and compact, almost looking like a pencil case at first glance.
Like the Pax Stash Tube, there's not a lot of space here for your smoking needs. But it's a perfect little slip case if you want to stay strapped with a joint or two at all times.
Overall: 7/10. It is stylish and does exactly what it promises for pre rolls and blunts, but the small size means it is not built for anyone carrying a real stash.
Smell Score: 8/10. The silicone seal holds up well, though it is not quite as airtight as something purpose built like the Pax tube.
The Ongrok Carbon-Lined Lockable Wallet V2 is exactly what you need if you have precious glass items you want stored alongside your flower. It comes with a lock included in the package, adding a layer of security against prying eyes who like to go through your stuff. If discretion is your style, this wallet keeps things low-key.
It works great as an actual wallet, but personally I love storing my blunts, edibles, and loose flower in the little compartments inside. It's perfect if you want to travel and bring along some extra goodies. Measuring in at 52.4 millimeters by 279.4 millimeters, you can even fit a mini hand pipe in here if you really wanted to. Made of poly fabric and lined with activated bamboo carbon, it keeps your materials smelling fresh and ready to use.
Overall: 9/10. The lock and multi use compartments make it one of the more versatile picks on this list, and it earns points for doing double duty as an actual wallet.
Smell Score: 9/10. The activated bamboo carbon lining does a great job locking in smells, and its nondescript design makes things discreet.
The Boveda CVault has built-in odor and humidity regulation. It comes with an airtight seal and includes a fresh pack right out of the box, so keeping your vault dialed in takes very little effort. Whether you're storing cigars, dry flower, or pretty much any smokable, this thing keeps it fresh.
The only real drawback is its compact size. Storing in bulk isn't really an option here, and it's the kind of container you can quickly outgrow. But for temporary storage or smaller-scale needs it works just fine, and that same compact size is what makes it great for travel.
What sets it apart from your average jar is the humidity control. Most containers just block smells, but this one actually keeps your flower at the ideal moisture level, so it hits smooth every time. It's a workhorse, just a small one.
Overall: 8/10. The CVault has an unassuming design that just looks like a storage jar, but it's actually phenomenal at humidity control which is a major win.
Smell Score: 9/10. It does a spectacular job of trapping smells, but is quite potent when opened.
Leave the spooky stuff for October. September is about clearing out the old and locking in the fresh. With fall here, it is the perfect time to ditch that dried out flower and upgrade to smell proof storage that keeps your hits fresh and your carry discreet.
