VOOPOO PnP Coil Series: A Complete Compatibility Guide (UPDATED 2026)

VOOPOO’s PnP (Plug ‘n Play) coil family is one of the most popular platforms in vaping, but it’s also grown into a really big lineup over the years. Between the original PnP, the newer PnP X, and a whole alphabet soup of coil codes (VM, TM, R, M2…), it’s easy to grab the wrong pack.

This is the single most important distinction to understand, because it trips up more people than anything else. 

PnP is VOOPOO’s original coil platform, launched alongside the first Drag X and Drag S. It’s been the backbone of the Drag, Argus, and Vinci lines for years, and it’s still going strong. 

PnP X is the newer, physically redesigned platform found in devices like the Drag X2, Drag S2, Drag X3, Drag S3, and Argus Pro 2. It uses a different fitting than the original PnP coils.

Here’s the part that matters: these two platforms are not interchangeable. A PnP coil will not click into a PnP X pod, and a PnP X coil will not fit into an original PnP pod, no matter how much you wiggle it. They both use the same “push and pull” installation style, which is exactly why people assume they’re the same thing, but the coil housings themselves are different shapes.

There’s one wrinkle worth knowing: some older kits, like the original Drag X and Drag S “PnP-X Pod” editions, used a pod named PnP-X but actually built on the original PnP coil platform. Confusing naming, we know. The safest move is always to check the coil code printed on the coil itself (or your pod’s packaging) rather than going off a kit name alone.

• Pod says “PnP” > use the original PnP coils
• Pod/device says “PnP X” (X2, S2, X3, S3, etc.) > use PnP X coils only
• Not sure? Check the coil code, not just the box art

The original PnP family is huge, which is actually its biggest strength. There’s a coil for nearly every style of vaping. Here are the main players you’ll come across:

• PnP-VM1 (0.3ohm) - A crowd favorite for a reason. Great flavor, smooth restricted-DTL draw, runs around 20-25W. Excellent all-day workhorse coil.
• PnP-VM3 (0.15ohm-0.2ohm) - Sits toward the DTL side, runs around 25-30W, warm and full of flavor. A nice middle ground if VM1 feels too tight and VM5 feels like too much.
• PnP-VM5 (0.15ohm) - Full sub-ohm, cloud-chasing territory, 40-60W. Pair this with high-VG juice only. It’s not built for nic salts or a tight draw.
• PnP-M2 (0.6ohm) - Mesh coil that splits the difference between R1 and VM1, running 20-28W. Slightly tighter draw with mesh-quality flavor.
• PnP-TM1 (0.6ohm) - One of the newer additions, tuned for a pleasant MTL experience around 20-25W. Plays especially well with the Argus Air.
• PnP-TM2 (0.8ohm) - Tighter still, 12-18W, built for MTL vapers who want that closer-to-cigarette draw.
• PnP-RBA - For the tinkerers. A rebuildable deck compatible with select original PnP devices, letting experienced users wick and wrap their own builds instead of buying prebuilts. Not a beginner coil, you’ll want to know your way around resistance and wicking before diving in.

Notice a pattern? Lower resistance (0.15ohm-0.3ohm) generally means more airflow, more vapor, and a DTL draw at higher wattage. Higher resistance (0.6ohm-0.8ohm) means a tighter, warmer MTL draw at lower wattage. When in doubt, match the coil to how you actually want to inhale.

PnP X coils are identified similarly, just with the “X” tacked on. Think PnP X 0.15ohm, 0.20ohm, 0.30ohm, and 0.80ohm options. VOOPOO built this platform with improved airflow management and refined pod design, so if your device supports it, it’s a genuine step up rather than just a rebrand.

Because so many devices share the same coil family, one of the nicest things about going PnP is the flexibility. You can hop between a compact pod system and a full-power box mod without rebuying your entire coil stock, as long as you’re staying within the same platform.

While we’re on the subject, it’s worth knowing PnP isn’t VOOPOO’s only coil system:

• TPP coils are for high-wattage tanks and serious cloud production. Think Drag 2 Refresh Edition and other TPP-tank devices.
• ITO coils are VOOPOO’s lower-power MTL option, built for compact kits like the Doric series.

None of these are interchangeable with PnP or PnP X, so if a coil pack says TPP or ITP, don’t expect it to fit in a PnP pod.

Even the perfect coil match will give you a burnt hit if you don’t prime it first. Before installing a fresh coil:

• Drip a few drops of e-liquid directly into the coil’s exposed cotton ports
• Let it sit for 5-10 minutes so the wicking fully saturates
• Fill your pod and let it sit another few minutes before your first puff
• Start with a few gentle draws at lower wattage before ramping up

Skipping this step is the number one reason people think a coil is “defective” when it’s really just dry.

The whole point of the PnP system is convenience. One coil format spanning dozens of devices, in a resistance for basically every vaping style. The catch is just making sure you’re shopping the right platform, not just the right name. Check your pod, check the coil code, and match your resistance to how you like vape (tight and warm vs. airy and cloudy).
